Marble Effect Quartz Worktops
Marble Effect Quartz Worktops have become very popular. Marble is a stunning material, its timeless beauty makes this a luxurious addition to your home decor.
If you would like to have the look of marble without the compromise of the high maintenance this material demands, then marble effect quartz is the ideal option, especially if it is going to be used as a kitchen worktop. Unlike marble, quartz is a non-porous material that is highly durable due to it being man-made. Quartz is typically 90-93% quartz and 7% resin and pigments which makes it an easy material to maintain. The beautiful veining which you find in marble is replicated by hand with different pigments, this is typically done in grey, blue and gold against a white or cream background. There are three different types of marble effect quartz worktop options; Carrara, Calacatta and Statuary/Statuario, all three originate from the city of Carrara in Tuscany. Hopefully, after reading this blog you will have a better idea of which effect you prefer. Contact a member of our design team to find out more or complete our online quote form with your dimensions.
What is Carrara?
This has been named after the Italian region this marble originates from, its typical characteristics consist of very light grey/blue thin veining. This is a great option if you are looking for a subtle marble look.
What is Calacatta?
Calacatta is more dramatic in look, it tends to have much thicker veins which normally come in brown, gold, grey and beige. We have a great range of Calacatta marble effect quartz to choose from please refer to our samples page . This material looks absolutely stunning on an island with a waterfall.
What is Statuary/Statuario?
The name of this is a reminder that many of the most iconic statues such as Michelangeloβs David have been carved from this marble. Statuario quartz is the closest match to this. Statuary quartz has fewer colour variations than Calacatta, it typically has a brighter white background and darker grey thunderbolt veins giving the slab a dramatic effect due to the colour contrast.
