Can you put a hot pan directly on Quartz Worktops?
No. Quartz is a hugely popular kitchen worktop choice for busy households because it is easy to maintain. It has great benefits like being scratch-resistant, heat-resistant and stain-resistant. However, Quartz worktops are NOT heatproof.
If your pan is extremely hot or has been left on the countertop for a long period, this will cause burn marks and discolouration which cannot be reversed. If you are looking for a heat-proof worktop solution then you should explore Porcelain worktops.
How heat resistant are Quartz Worktops?
Quartz worktops are made of quartz, resin and minerals. The percentage of quartz will vary depending on the supplier. Since resin can only withstand heat up to 150Β° placing hot pots or pans directly out of the oven can cause permanent damage.
Best Practice:
- Do not place your pots and pans directly from the stove onto your surfaces, always use a trivet, coaster and/or hotpads.
- If you have a quartz splashback, ensure your pan is not directly touching the wall.
- Avoid using Quartz outdoors. It is best used for indoor applications.
